Stress is actually an important and helpful response from our body that enables us to react quickly to danger or challenges. Short-term stress keeps us alert and focused.

However, when stress happens too frequently or lasts for a long time, it becomes harmful. In such cases, the body doesn’t get enough time to recover, which over time can lead to health issues.

One of the risks is burnout, where a person feels mentally and physically exhausted and overwhelmed.

The main problem arises when the recovery process after stress is insufficient. People who don’t recover well are more likely to develop burnout. This can show itself through symptoms like fatigue, sleep problems, and physical complaints.

Lab tests on urine and saliva as well as medical-grade ECG devices (such as from First Beat, can be used to measure the presence in the body of stress hormones and neurotransmitters and how well someone recovers from stress.

This combination offers a way to objectively detect early signs of chronic stress and burnout risk, enabling timely interventions to protect health and well-being.
